No racing July 2

The Beer Can Competitors Meeting will be Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 1730 on the Sail Wash Lawn by I Dock, followed by a J/22 focused rules seminar at 1830.

La Playa Series

  • Entries will be limited to 36 teams per night.
  • Bronze Fleet Racing: Starts at 1600
  • Silver Fleet Racing: Starts approximately at 1700
  • Gold Fleet Racing: Starts approximately at 1800
  • May 28 all fleets will start 30 minutes later, Bronze at 16:30, Silver approximately 17:30, Gold approximately 18:30.
  • No racing July 2.

La Playa Series Format

Teams will be split into Gold, Silver, and Bronze Fleets.

Bronze Fleet will start at 1600 and race for about 1 hour. Silver Fleet will start immediately after Bronze Fleet finishes, starting approximately at 1700 and race for about 1 hour. Gold Fleet will start immediately after Silver Fleet finishes, starting approximately at 1800, and race for about 1 hour.  Bronze Fleet teams will rig and Gold Fleet teams will derig.

Each week, the top Silver Fleet team moves up to Gold, and the last-place Gold team moves down to Silver. Likewise, the top Bronze Fleet team moves up to Silver, and the last-place Silver team moves down to Bronze, though the number of teams moving may vary.

Other Fleet competitors will do Race Committee for Fleets they are not racing in. Race Committee duties will be assigned by Organizing Authority a few days prior. Volunteers are always appreciated. This is a fun way to watch the other fleet race and learn about Race Committee duties.

Each week, all races in each Fleet will be tallied to determine placing by Fleet. Overall Week Race scoring will combine all Fleets’ placings. Weekly scoring is based on low point system. Series scoring is based on the US Sailing high-point percentage scoring system.

To ensure the maximum number of teams race each week, no show teams are scored DNE (scored last and the week’s score is not excluded for series).

There is no Open Distance Series in 2026.
