CRAIG LEWECK:
Craig Leweck produces Scuttlebutt Sailing News, first launched in 1997, and now the leading source for sailing news in North America. For the past 22 years, he has been providing sailing enthusiasts with their daily download of news, and when you report on the sport for that long, spending each day looking at the activity, you see a lot more than race results, and he often shares these opinions in the publication.
Craig previously worked in the sailmaking industry for 12 years, often in parallel with his competitive career that includes 16 national and world titles in dinghies and keelboats, plus a victory at the US SAILING Championship of Champions (Hobie 21) and an Olympic Tornado campaign for the 1992 Games. His offshore sailing experience excludes only an ocean crossing - a mark of either ignorance or intelligence.
Craig grew up in Los Angeles, grew up further in Columbus, OH, and now resides in San Diego. This is where he met longtime SDYC member Lisa Manzer, and the two have been sailing together now for 38 years.
