HPYS 29er Clinic

Saturday, August 20, 2022 -
Sunday, August 21, 2022

This HPYS supported clinic is a multi-level 29er format for both new sailors looking to tryout a 29er and intermediate and advanced teams preparing for the upcoming SCYRA season.

Format

  • Beginner without boat: Sailors will split time in a coach boat and on a 29er with an experienced sailor. Beginners without a boat may register with a teammate or can register solo and be paired with a teammate by the coaches. This is a great way to try a skiff for the first time.
  • Intermediate and Experienced Sailors with a boat.

Coaches

  • Ryan Eastwood is an accomplished 29er sailor who has experience coaching top 29er teams to success at the 29er MWWs and 29er Nationals in 2021. Recent graduate of UCSB.
  • Giselle Nyenhuis, a member of SDYC, has competed in the 1992 Olympics, won the Youth World Sailing Championships, won Silver at the Women’s Laser Radial World Championships twice, and has won five US Sailing National Championships. She’s coached sailors at world championships, as well as local clinics, such as CISA and HPYS.
  • TBD, additional coaches to be added depending on signups.

Applications & Cost

  • All applications will be initially listed as “pending" to give the organizers time to ensure sufficient HPYS boats for Beginner format and coaches. We may not be able to admit every applicant and will let sailors know if they have been accepted as soon as possible after the application deadline.
  • Teams with boats: $200/sailor.
  • Teams without boat: $100/sailor
  • Late fee of $50 applies after Aug 15th.
  • Application deadline Aug 19 at 5pm.
