ANDREW LEWIS: Olympic Level Coach and 3x Olympian Andrew Lewis will be bringing his wealth of experience and knowledge to San Diego. This clinic focuses on racing, emphasizing starting, tactics, and strategy. DOUG HART is a very experienced coach who has coached ILCAs, High School teams and Snipe sailors from beginner to Olympic Development. Doug has won the Snipe Nationals and the Snipe North Americans multiple times and been on the podium in a variety of classes at the national and international level and won a silver medal in the ’84 Pan Am Games in Windsurfing. Doug is a former All-American at the US Naval Academy.
PEDRO MASCARENHAS: Pedro Mascarenhas is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and star sailing at age of 8 in the Optimist Class. After constant rankings in the top 10 of the Opti Class in Brazil, Pedro represented his country in some international championships. He also represented Brazil at the Youth Sailing Worlds Championships in the Laser, Snipe and Lightning Classes. He achieved excellent results, finishing in the top of the fleet. Pedro continued his success sailing on the Snipe, J70 and other big boats. It was in the Laser Class that he stood out more, representing Brazil in the Laser Class World Championships. Pedro’s experience as a coach began in 1999 at the world renowned “Prejeto Grael in Brazil”, He also was the Optimist Head Coach of the Rio Yacht Club from 1999 to 2004 and conduct Competitive Sailing Techniques and Tactics Clinics for Laser Class. Since January 2020, Pedro is the trainer Laser, Snipe, 420 and Optimist Sailors in Miami. In the summer 2021, 2022 and 2023, he coached the American National Team at the Laser Radial Junior (Ilca 6) and Laser 4.7 (Ilca 4) World Championships. Recently Pedro was American Team Leader in the 2022 South American Championship and 2023 North American Championship at the Optimist Class.
His passion for coaching is unparalleled.
Each day begins with discussions on key aspects of racing, followed by personalized plans to maximize gains. On-water sessions include starting repetitions and a mix of short, medium and longer course racing. Andrew will provide precise feedback and create drills as needed to provide greater focus on different areas of the course which require more deliberate practice. Debrief sessions involve group discussions and video analysis by this 3X Olympian to highlight areas for improvement and provide a focus for the next day’s mission. Andrew always has a surprise or two, so be ready for his unique ways to fast-track your racing level.

Clinic cost is $250. The clinic organizers have a limited number of charter boats at a cost of $200 on a first come/first serve basis.

Schedule:
Friday: Be rigged and ready for a 1PM meeting.
Saturday and Sunday: Be rigged and ready for a 10AM meeting.
We’ll be off the water by 6PM on Friday/Saturday and 5PM on Sunday.
Please bring your own water/lunch/snacks. There will be food provided on Friday and Saturday during the post-sailing debriefs.
Venue: SDYC
Gear: Be prepared to be on the water in an ocean venue sailing for 4 to 5 hours. Bring appropriate sailing gear, a dry bag with any extra gear and plenty of water and quick, healthy snacks to keep you going!
