SDYC

This will be a multi-level 29er clinic, both for development teams attending the weekly after school classes and advanced 29er racing sailors preparing for upcoming regattas.

COACHES:

Paris Henken is an Olympian in the 49erFX, competing in the Rio Games in 2016.  In 2021 she was the Women’s College Sailor of the Year. In 2015 she won the bronze medal at the 2015 Pan Am Games in the 49erFX. Paris learned to sail at Coronado Yacht Club.

Sterling Henken has coached novice to advanced sailors from all over the country in a variety of single and double handed classes since 2014. Alongside his coaching, Sterling has competed in the 29er class nationally and internationally, including three world championships.  Today, Sterling works as an educator in Santa Barbara, specializing in supporting students with disabilities. His work as a teacher greatly informs and strengthens his delivery of information and creates a structured environment where sailors can hone their abilities and passion for the sport of sailing.

Noah Nyenhuis is an accomplished skiff sailor who has twice represented the United States at the World Sailing Youth World Championships and won the Bronze medal in 2021. Noah and his brother Ian also finished 4th in the Open World Championships (out of 189 teams) and recently they competed in the US Olympic Trials in the 49er. Noah is an excellent skiff coach for sailors of all levels from novice to advanced with an excellent ability to articulate the nuances of boat handling and sail trim. Noah is studying Mechanical Engineering at SDSU.

Catherine “B” Lindsay is a data analyst and sailor from Southern California. Racing boats from the age of 8, she holds two World titles and three US National titles across four different classes.  B graduated from Yale with a degree in Statistics & Data Science while campaigning for the 2024 Olympics in the iQFoil windsurfer. She has worked as the data analyst for the US Sailing Team (USST) and consulted on sports analytics for the US Olympic committee and other Team USA NGBs. She now runs Sailytics, a data analysis company. She continues to support the USST as their Performance Data Analyst in the lead up to and in Marseille at the 2024 Olympic Games.

Depending on registration numbers, more coaches will be hired.

Both sailors on a team must register for the clinic individually. You may list a teammate or can register solo and be paired with a teammate by the coaches.
