Support for the Future Legends of SDYC

Many of the "Legends of SDYC" have grown through the Junior Sailing Program in the past 94 years, drawing on their experiences to become successful sailors, professionals, and prominent community members. The Junior Program has played a critical role in the history of SDYC, the sport of sailing, and in the lives of its graduates. We need your support to continue this illustrious pedigree, for this generation and many more to come. Your donations will support..

  • Six brand new Zim C420's purchased in July 2022

    • The C420 fleet is the most competitive and largest double handed fleet in North America. It’s symmetrical spinnaker and trapeze teach our Juniors fundamental skills that will empower them to compete at a higher level and travel throughout the US. Expanding our fleet with new boats allows us to support a larger range of sailors, from those who are just developing their skills, to sailors who will be competing on the national stage.

  • Purchase of new RIBs

    • These new RIBs will help us modernize our coach boat fleet so that we can better support the diverse needs of our program, including our growing C420 Fleet and our already successful 29er and Laser programs.

  • Improvements to our existing CFJ and Sabot fleets

    • Your donations will help support the boats that gave many SDYC sailors their start in the sport. We want to invest more into this equipment so that we can improve the experiences of every sailor, from beginning sabots to high school national champions.

  • 25% of each donation goes to the Junior Sailing Endowment Fund, which will support future sailors for decades to come.

    • The San Diego Yacht Club Sailing Foundation subsidizes the operating costs of the Junior Program from this endowment. As your donations grow this fund, we are able to expand opportunities for our sailors and continue developing our staff of high-quality coaches.

All donations are tax deductible through the San Diego Yacht Club Sailing Foundation.

The San Diego Yacht Club Sailing Foundation is a California, non-profit benefit corporation exempt from income tax under Internal Revenue Code section 501C(3) and is a “qualified amateur sports organization” under Section 501(j) of the Internal Revenue Code, IRS Tax ID No. 33-0510953. You are encouraged to consult your tax advisor for determination of tax-deductibility.
