After high school, he pursued an Olympic campaign, working as a training partner for the runner-up at the 2020 US Olympic trials (Paul ultimately finished 6th at the 2020 US Olympic trials). Along the way, he started to do more and more coaching. As a coach, he has successfully qualified multiple sailors for the US Sailing Youth Championship, US Sailing Junior Championship, High School Sailing Single-handed Championship, and has coached sailors to the podium at multiple Olympic Class Regattas. Outside of sailing, he is a running enthusiast and is working towards a master’s degree in Applied Statistics at California State University, Long Beach. In his current role as a high-performance coach at Balboa Yacht Club, he aims to utilize both his technical and non-technical background to help create world-class athletes in the sport of sailing.
