My crew, Wyatt Kelly and I recently traveled up to Redwood City in the Bay area to compete in the 2024 C420 North American Championship. This was our second year participating in this event. 106 participants were registered for the regatta.
Over four days of racing the conditions were extreme, with 20-25 knot winds all four days of the event. The high winds mixed with outgoing tide, causing extremely large chop with a short period that led to tricky racing.
The competition was intense and after four days of racing we ended up 10th overall.
I would like to thank comp fund for giving us the opportunity to sail in new conditions that we don’t get to sail in much here in Southern California. It was a great experience and we learned a lot from participating in the 2024 C420 North American Championships.
