Thank you so much for supporting me to compete in the ILCA Radial Youth World Championship in Circolo Vela Arco, Italy. It was an amazing experience. We raced for six days. There were 40 countries represented with 374 sailors. I was one of six girls from the USA.

The conditions in Lake Garda were so different from anything I have ever sailed in. There was no current and the wind would die midday while it switched from north to south. This caused some on-the-water postponement, but the views were so pretty on the water that I didn't mind waiting for the wind to fill in. Once the wind filled in, it was usually 12-18 knots depending on the day.

One of my favorite parts of the trip was meeting sailors from different countries. I often talked to Johanna, a girl from Estonia, who was in the same flight as I was and parked close to me in the boat yard. I also got to know sailors from Norway, Canada and Puerto Rico as well as the other sailors representing the USA.

Althought I did not do very well in the regatta, I learned a lot from competing against other girls and had a great time. Thank you again for your support. I look forward to representing SDYC in future regattas.
