Hey, we have a weekend off from J/105 Madness! Thanks again to Jeff Brown and his team who did a great job with the So Cal and North American Championships. This weekend is dark and next week the Masters comes to town. Like the earlier events, we'll have plenty going on shoreside. If you haven't booked a seat or table for the Masters dinner on Saturday night, do it before the few available seats are gone. We will play host to the Masters skippers and crews and the emcee will be Golden Gate YC Vice Commodore Tom Ehman, who aside from having fun with the skippers, will be discussing the latest with the America's Cup and maybe explain what the $&@# happened with Oracle's new 72 flipping and then drifting out SF Bay! Following the Masters is the Lipton Cup the following weekend… stay-tuned.
The J/105's weren't the only ones racing last weekend. Our SDYC Women's racing team, led by Annie Gardner, won the final race to take the Linda Elias Memorial Women's One Design Championship in a tie-breaker at Long Beach Yacht Club. They were the top crew of eight teams and sailed Catalina 37's in challenging Long Beach conditions. Good job ladies!
