What a week for SDYC Junior Sailors! Young Helen McCarthy racked up the trifecta in the Dutch Shoe Marathon with 1st to finish, 1st in C Fleet and 1st Girl to Finish. Zack Downing and Andrew Cates bested over 150 boats to win the 29er European Championship in Locarno, Switzerland, and Nevin Snow, Jake La Dow and Jake Reynolds took the 45th running of the Balboa Yacht Club's Governor's Cup International Match Racing regatt a defeating teams from as far as Australia and New Zealand. We are all so proud of these young people. Congratulations to all.
We are looking forward to the Lipton Cup Challenge Regatta, August 12-14, with Skipper Chuck Driscoll defending for SDYC in boats graciously loaned by our J/105 Fleet. It should be exciting sailing with all crews changing boats after each race so I am hoping for a large spectator fleet turnout. Go Chuck and Team SDYC!
We'll begin our new Burger BBQ nights this Monday with hamburgers, turkey, and veggie burgers with the fixings and sides. Monday lunches will also have a new format with a soup and deli sandwich bar which will offer excellent fare. What other dining facilities can provide such a pleasant setting with waterfront views and good food at very reasonable prices? Hope to see you here every Monday!
