Still in Puerto Vallarta and still having a great time! After six of the scheduled eight races in the 2012 MEXORC, SDYC boats are in the hunt. Dennis Pennell and his Blue Blazes crew are atop Class B and brother Ernie on Cazador is holding third in Class A. Today's race takes us out and around the Tres Marietas Islands on what we hope will be an epic whale-watching excursion. Racing concludes tomorrow and we all head home on Sunday to resume our normal lives.
One of my highlights next week will be the Commodore's Dinner, scheduled for Wednesday after work. Our speaker will be SD Police Chief William Landsdowne and if past dinner programs serve as an indicator, you will want to make sure to make your reservation early. I am sure that the Chief will have lots of interesting information to share with us and don't forget to bring those outstanding parking tickets!
We also have the NOOD Regatta this weekend and I hope that the weather cooperates enough to provide for a fun and safe regatta. We'll be watching the results via Internet from down here, so sail fast!
