SDYC Wins International Match Race Challenge

By | October 12, 2012

This is a big weekend to start a series of big weekends around the Club… J/105 style! America will be at the dock for happy hour tonight, welcoming skippers and crews to kick off the J/105 Fall Series, which goes non-stop until the Lipton Cup on the 9th-11th. This weekend is the Southern California Championships and all of the serious teams will be out getting ready for the North Americans which start next Wednesday.

Hats off to SDYC's match racing team, Brad Rodi, Julie Servais, Mandy Markee, Eric Shampain and Austin Dias who went up Vancouver and won the Commodores Cup International Match Race Challenge at Royal Vancouver Yacht Club. Well-done everyone and thanks for hoisting our burgee so high at the event.

Lastly, don't forget next Wednesday's Commodore's Dinner, where we will be hosting Mayoral candidates Carl DeMaio and Bob Filner. Reserve your seats early so we can accommodate you in the room. This should be really interesting and sure to provide lots of sparks. Our inter-fleet Communications Director, Kelly McKeown has been instructed to be nice, however who knows what we will hear on Wednesday? Come down and join us!
