On July 17, Kelly Holthus led a parade of small white sails across the channel for the 43rd installation of SDYC’s iconic Dutch Shoe Marathon. Nearly 150 sabots competed in the seven-mile race from Point Loma to Coronado

This years Ida Lewis regatta was characterized by a lot fun, great sailing, and some learning experiences. Hosted by Columbia sailing center in South Carolina, the regatta was sailed on Lake Murray with great wind all three racing days.

On June 17 Storm Brown, Andy Reiter and I [Scott Sinks] teamed up to race in Newport Beach for the Rose Cup. The Rose Cup is a match race championship sailed in Governor 21 boats.

Congratulations to SDYC's Nevin Snow, selected as the 2015 Marlow Ropes College Sailor of the Year for his excellent Junior season at Georgetown University.

SDYC celebrated its 130th Opening Day on Sunday April 19th, full of fanfare and camaraderie. It was a beautiful day to be at club. To revisit the celebration, check out the news reports from KUSI that were broadcast on Friday and Saturday of Opening Day weekend, and a recap video showcasing the club throughout Sunday.

Laser Midwinters East was held, as always, in Clearwater Florida. Over the three (first day was canceled) day regatta, I saw a wide range of conditions. This tested my transition between the wind ranges.

Taisei Hatter sailed in the Gold Opti Fleet, competing against 181 other boats in St. Petersburg for the SPYC Valentine's Day Opti Regatta.

The Race Committee (RC) lies at the core of our sport yet many sailors give it little thought. Participation in race management is a great instrument for excelling in sailing, which subsequently promotes an overall increase in the competitive level and standardization of sailboat racing.
