2012 SDYC Accomplishments

Congratulations to Jr. S/C Kyle Clark for a fantastic year. Kyle summarized some 2012 SDYC sailing accomplishments in his remarks at the annual meeting last Monday evening. I was so impressed that I wanted to share them with you:

  • Mark Reynolds was inducted into the National Sailing Hall of Fame
  • Molly O'Bryan and Graham Biehl went to the Olympics in London
  • Bill Hardesty was named Rolex Yachtsman of the Year, and his Pindar team placed 3rd at the Monsoon Cup in Malaysia, which clinched the Match Racing World Championship for the 4th time
  • Denny Pennell and his Blue Blazes crew won the PV Race for the second time
  • Annie Nelson and her crew won the Linda Elias Women's One Design Championship in Long Beach
  • SDYC High School teams won both the Fleet and Team Racing National Championships Nevin Snow, Jake Reynolds and Jake La Dow won the Governors Cup... and now have also qualified for the youth Red Bull regatta next fall in the AC-45's
  • Will La Dow won the C420 National Championship
  • JJ Fetter was elected to the US Sailing Board of Directors
  • Dennis Conner was voted America's Greatest Sailor by US Sailing
