Thanks to everyone for your responses to my message last Friday regarding the Commodore's Luncheon series. I sent a package of all of the responses to everyone who replied and if I missed anyone please let me know so that I can get that to you.
Part of asking for your opinion is also providing feedback about the results and in this case, the results were not exactly what I expected. Nobody said that the current program should stay as-is and there were two universal themes that came to the surface. First, most respondents shared that they do not have time to regularly attend a lunch program, given their work schedules or geographic location during the day. Second, every single response said that weekly programs are too often and there was a split between once and twice a month being the suggested frequency.
So what now? I have asked Lee Hope, Director Mike Dorgan and their committee to give some serious thought about how we can continue this SDYC tradition in a manner that will encourage attendance by a broader spectrum of our members. Questions to consider… Once a month or twice? After work or alternate with lunches? Dinner or Happy Hour with heavy appetizers? Any other bright ideas?
Again, I appreciate the thoughtful and constructive e-mails I received last weekend. If you have suggestions you would like the Committee to consider, please send them to me at commodore@sdyc.org. In the meantime, our luncheons will continue on our regular schedule until any announcements are made so please, come down next Wednesday and hear our Port Captain, Riley Mixson share information about what is going on with our slips, wait lists and programs we are implementing to clean up our marina.
