South Shore Champs Results C420 NA Results

At the beginning of August, Anton and I traveled to Sayville, New York, to compete in the C420 South Shore Championship, the final regatta in the Triple Crown series. On our first day of practice, there was a nice sea breeze of about 12-16 knots, which made for a fun day of sailing. On the first day of racing, we were met with a sea breeze of about 12 knots, which slowly built all day. By the last race, the breeze had picked up to around 18-20 knots. We were really happy to take first place in the windiest race of the regatta since we are a relatively small team.

The next two days of racing were very similar, starting off very light, and slowly building to around 8 knots throughout the day. We were very happy to take 5th place in the gold fleet out of 88 boats. With 5th place in the last regatta of the series, we placed 11th overall in the Triple Crown. It was nice to get together with some other teams and make some new sailing friends that I am sure I will see at future regattas. Thanks to the SDYC Comp Fund for making this possible.

Late this summer, we had the amazing opportunity to travel to compete in the C420 North American Championship in Newport Rhode Island. We spent a week beforehand training in the venue and other coves in Newport. It was a beautiful place to sail with amazing cliffs and lot of greenery on all sides. The regatta showed interesting conditions with light breeze all the days of the regatta but with very big depth differences that played a big role with the strong current. With very stable seabreezes all of the days of racing, boat speed and tactics played a big role in performing well . We placed overall 10th out of 130 boats in this important international regatta. We want to thank SDYC Comp Fund for allowing us to always be improving  and compete at this level
