Congratulations to SDYC's Piper Holthus and BCYC Sophia Pearce, winners of the 2021 C420 National Championship sailed in Brant Beach, NJ. The championship sailed with 132 teams came down to the last race, which Holthus and Pearce came in first.

At the beginning of this summer, we flew out to Bristol, Rhode Island for just under two weeks to compete in the 29er US Nationals. We flew out a week before the event to take part in the  kiff
Generation Regatta held by the 2niner squad out of Roger Williams University. RWU is a great venue where we rigged in a forest and raced just off the beach.

Newport, R.I. — Over the first two days of the Melges IC37 National Championship, the defending champion Pacific Yankee team was dominant, winning three of four races and building a substantial lead. But, says skipper Drew Freides, the narrow margin for error in this competitive one-design class doesn't allow for playing it safe.

The 51st running of the Transpacific Yacht Race kicks off with starts on July 13, 16 and 17 in the 2225 mile race from Los Angeles to Honolulu. SDYC has three boats entered (Tom Holthus' Botin 56 BadPak, Wayne Zittel's Santa Cruz 50 J World's Hula Girl, and Roy Disney's Volvo 70 Pyewacket 70. Additionally a total of 26 SDYC member sailors will be competing in this year's race.

Ian and Noah Nyenhuis (29er class) are the first SDYC juniors to qualify for the US Youth Worlds team since Judge Ryan qualified back in 2008. The 2021 Youth Worlds will be in Oman in December. 

San Diego Yacht Club is proud to announce the biennial international yacht race from San Diego, California to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico will be held March 10 – 18, 2022. SDYC has been running the West Coast’s only continuous yacht race to mainland Mexico, a tradition that began in 1953.
