Nevin Snow 2015 Marlow Ropes College Sailor of the Year

Congratulations to SDYC's Nevin Snow, selected as the 2015 Marlow Ropes College Sailor of the Year for his excellent Junior season at Georgetown University.


Area J USMRC Qualifiers

Summer Greene and her team will be providing the race committee for the upcoming Area J USMRC Qualifiers; US Sailing is still accepting bids for entry and we are still accepting volunteers to help run the races, drive the change boat, and set the marks.  All qualifying events for the Prince of Wales Trophy (US Match Race Championships) will be open to sailors from all areas in both the open and women’s disciplines – so we may see some unfamiliar faces showing up to win a spot for the finals.  Racing will be city front, and should provide a good show.

SDYC celebrated its 130th Opening Day on Sunday April 19th, full of fanfare and camaraderie. It was a beautiful day to be at club. Brad Ruetnik Wins I-14 Super Cup

Seven I-14s came to SDYC on Apr 11-12 to participate in the San Diego Super Cup. Super Cup racing is short course windward/leeward racing with a mid leg gate which must be honored both upwind and downwind.


Beckmann takes the title at 2015 Etchells National Championship

The 2015 Etchells National Championship proved the old sailing adage that nothing in a regatta is certain until the very last race. Marvin Beckmann and his crew faced a difficult task going into the last race of the regatta.

When a fleet’s roster has as many World Championships as the 2015 Etchells National Championship, you know the points are going to be tight. By the end of Day 2, only 3 points separated Bill Hardesty, Marvin Beckmann and Argyle Campbell in the top 3 spots.
