The 2012 US Sailing Youth Championship was held by the Columbia Gorge Racing Association (CGRA) in Cascade Locks, Oregon from Tuesday August 14th, to Saturday August 18th.
Beachmaster Dan at the SDYC Catalina Outstation of Buffalo Beach took a video of two buffalo roaming the campgrounds, on July 3, 2012.
The 2012 505 World Championships was the largest event, with 188 entries, in the 57-year history of the class. Ted Conrads and I [Brian Haines] traveled to La Rochelle, on the west coast of France, for the regatta and were treated to some beautiful sailing conditions.
The 2012 29er European Championships were held in Sopot, Poland. The venue was fantastic, with a long beach for boat storage and launching.
For those of you who haven't heard, the winner of Jimmy Spithill's generous offer to sail on the Oracle AC-45 in San Francisco was Jack Reiter! While many of us were riding a desk on Tuesday, Jack was holdin' on for dear life on the back beam of an America's Cup cat and doing Mach-Schnell across San Francisco bay! First he's immortalized in Bronze at our front gate sculpture and now this?... c'mon!
