The week of June 16- 21 as the SDYC summer program was beginning, my crew Grace McCarthy and I (Molly Pleskus) were on a plane to Rye, NY to participate in our second US Junior Women’s Doublehanded championship for the Ida Lewis Trophy.
SDYC Junior Program alum Zach Malcolm has set sail in Kingston, Canada and set his sights on winning the 29er North American Championships. With Race Day 2 underway, Malcolm and his skipper Max Brill have 3 great results in the books.
With one race to spare, SDYC's Bil Hardesty has won his second Etchells World Championship in 4 years, with a dominating performance over the highly skilled 94 boat fleet competing in Newport, RI out of New York Yacht Club.
The 2014 Kettenburg & Classic Yacht Regatta begins today and runs through the weekend. There are a number of dockside and on-the-water opportunities to participate.
Wyn Adams and Ryan Poole, participants in the SDYC Sea Scouts program are competing against 72 of the world’s top Sea Scout sailors at Long Beach Yacht Club, June 22-28 for the rights to claim the William I. Koch International Sea Scout Cup.
When I walk into the SDYC lobby I am stunned by the beauty and craftsmanship embodied in the Lipton Cup. Looking closely, you can find a record of 110 years of competition including the names of the yachts which have won.
