The 15th Annual Wooden Boat Festival is behind us. We had many new vessels at the show this year and the crowd seemed to really enjoy the show. Many club members showed their boats for the first time and people really enjoyed the event.
After anxiously awaiting the Kettenburg Regatta sponsored by the Ancient Mariners, we saw nine boats at the line. It was a great event. The wind was light but enough to allow us all to enjoy the day of two races.
Our 120th SDYC Opening Day is behind us! It was a wonderful weekend with terrific weather! Thanks to our Board, volunteers and club employees for doing a great job! Another round of thanks goes to all the club members who took time to uncover and clean up their boats.
While activity on PC Row slowed a bit over the last few months, the respite from the rain and warmer weather has brought skippers out like a hot weather termite swarm. I see people out cleaning and varnishing and getting ready for the coming sailing season.
The March meeting of the San Diego Ancient Mainers Sailing Society was the usual terrific event. PC fleet member and Maritime Attorney, Doug Holthaus offered a very interesting discussion on Yacht Insurance.
Don’t forget that March will bring a non-spinnaker “fun race” to the Coronado YC on Sunday the 6th. Some people choose to just sail down with the fleet and sail back, immediately, without stopping at the CYC. If you are short of time or wish to skip lunch at the CYC, do join us anyway!
