In the late 1920’s, the concept of the Kettenburg “Pacific Class” one design racing yacht was developed by George Kettenburg Jr.
The amount of activity on PC Row continues to amaze me! I have continued to make visits to the old Kettenburg yard to see the progress on #70. The interior is just beautiful, and the contrast of the new ribs against the white interior hull paint is terrific.
The big question today is: “Who will be the new owner of hull #25?” She is on the hard in British Columbia and is in need of calking and some restoration. The present owner bought her with every intention of finishing the task, but ran out of time and money.
The PC fleet was well represented during both the Hot Rum, Termite Regatta and the Half Pint ‘O Rum this year! 5-6 boats made it out to impress the locals. I look forward to this coming sailing season when the boats now on the hard will be finished and again join in the fray.
As usual, there is much happening on PC Row. First, let me welcome Pete La Dow to the fleet! Pete sailed on #42 some years back and was recently “bitten” by the PC bug again.
PUFF is on the hard for bottom work and beautification, thus we will not be sailing for a bit. Dick Stratton and Randy Richman tried to put a race together for tomorrow, however it was canceled, in that only 2 boats could participate.
